This 1963 Volkswagen Beetle is said to have been first registered in California where it remained with its original owner for approximately 38 years before being relocated to Washington State circa 2005. The car is powered by an air-cooled flat-four that has been modified to displace 1.6 liters and features forged 85.5mm pistons, Gene Berg semi-hemi single port heads, an extended capacity oil sump, and a Solex 28 PICT-1 carburetor. Its Ruby Red body features earlier model Bosch fluted headlight lenses, polished beltline trim, and chrome bumpers with overriders, while the interior is trimmed in gray vinyl and incorporates a Bambus parcel shelf, red lap belts, and a Bendix Sapphire I AM radio. Additional details include 15″ steel wheels, Metric Radial tires, drum brakes, and a four-speed manual transaxle. Acquired by the current owner in November 2023, this Beetle is now offered on dealer consignment with a Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen Zertifikat, an owner’s manual, service records, repair manuals, spare parts, California black plates, and a clean Washington State title in the current owner’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Ruby Red (L456) and features earlier model Bosch fluted headlight lenses, polished beltline trim, quarter vent windows, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Images detailing the condition of the exterior are provided in the gallery below.
