This 1956 Cadillac Series 62 coupe was acquired by the current owner in 1999, and a subsequent refurbishment included the installation of a small block 400ci V8, a repaint in red, and a reupholstering of the interior. Equipment includes a three-speed automatic transmission, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock mufflers, power-assisted steering and drum brakes, chrome bumpers with “bullet” front bumper guards, fender skirts, power windows, seating sourced from a 2003 Cadillac, and a retro-style stereo. This Series 62 coupe is now offered on dealer consignment with service records and a clean Colorado title.
The fourth-generation Series 62 featured a revised grille and rear fender styling, and the body of this example was repainted red and the trim and bumpers were re-chromed in the early 2000s. Additional exterior details include “bullet” front bumper guards, gold emblems, a winged hood ornament, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper. Paint chips and scratches are shown up close in the gallery, and the pull-down for the power-operated trunk lid is inoperative.
Steel 15″ wheels wear chrome covers and are mounted with 235/75 BFGoodrich narrow-whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted drum brakes.
The cabin features front and rear bench seats upholstered in tan leather that were sourced from a 2003 Cadillac DeVille, and tan leather also adorns the top of the dash, the door panels, and the package shelf. Equipment includes an aftermarket stereo, an aftermarket air conditioning system, electric windows, and a center armrest with storage.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer along with gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level, and aftermarket gauges are mounted underneath the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles and has rolled over under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement small block 40oci V8 was rebuilt in 2002. It is equipped with a red-painted batwing air cleaner and valve covers, an Edelbrock carburetor, and electronic ignition.
