1958 Chevrolet Corvette

This 1958 Chevrolet Corvette is finished in Signet Red with white coves and powered by a CT-code 283ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features a white convertible top, a louvered hood, and chrome trim. The car reportedly spent time in southern California before it was acquired by its current owner in 2014, and subsequent refurbishment work included resealing the engine, installation of an electronic ignition, an overhaul of the suspension, and reupholstering the red interior. This C1 convertible was recently acquired by the selling dealer and is offered with a clean California title.

The fiberglass body was repainted in Signet Red with Snowcrest White coves during prior ownership according to the selling dealer. The white soft top is shown raised in the photo gallery below along with closeups of the finish, louvered hood, and trim.

Red-painted steel wheels are equipped with factory-style spinner hubcaps and Coker whitewall tires, and a matching spare wheel fitted with an older spare is stored in the trunk. The selling dealer states that the king pins and rear springs were replaced during the refurbishment.

The previous owner rebuilt the seats and reupholstered the interior with red vinyl and matching replacement carpets. The center stack houses heater and defroster controls, an analog clock, and a Wonder Bar AM radio, the latter of which does not work.

Factory instrumentation includes a sweeping 160-mph speedometer along with a centrally oriented 6k-rpm tachometer flanked by an ammeter and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer currently shows 38k miles, with total mileage unknown.

Featuring dual four-barrel carburetors, the 283ci V8 was rated by Chevrolet at 245 horsepower when new. Service during prior ownership included replacement of the timing chain as well as gaskets for the fuel pump, oil pan, timing cover, and valve covers. The distributor was also converted to an electronic ignition according to the seller.
