This 1967 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia coupe was refurbished and modified under previous ownership and rides on a modified suspension consisting of adjustable front air shocks, an adjustable axle beam, dropped spindles, and reindexed rear torsion arms. Finished in gold and green over tan and beige upholstery, the car is powered by an air-cooled 1,776cc flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional details include dual Kadron/Solex carburetors, a 12-volt electrical system, 15″ steel wheels, whitewall tires, front disc brakes, Scat Procar bucket seats, and a RetroSound radio. Acquired by the seller in 2017, this modified Karmann Ghia coupe is now offered with an Alabama registration in the seller’s name
The car was refinished in gold with a green roof under previous ownership and features bullet-style turn indicators, pop-out rear quarter windows, leather decklid straps, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Photos detailing the condition of the exterior are presented in the gallery.
Steel 15″ wheels wear chrome hubcaps with full-color Porsche crests and are mounted with BFGoodrich whitewall tires. The rear torsion arms have been reindexed and KYB GR2 shocks have been fitted, while the front suspension has been modified with an adjustable front axle beam, dropped spindles, and adjustable air dampers linked to a compressor and tank mounted behind the rear bench seat. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums. The suspension is stiff, per the seller.
Inside, a pair of tan vinyl Scat Procar seats have been installed and are joined by a folding rear bench seat trimmed in beige vinyl and cloth upholstery. Additional interior elements include a “cruiser” gas pedal, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, and a RetroSound radio. Repairs were performed to the dashboard lights and the windshield wiper motor wiring in preparation for the sale.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 90-mph VDO speedometer, fuel level gauge, and analog clock. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 39k miles, and true mileage is unknown. The fuel gauge reads half full at all times.
The air-cooled flat-four has reportedly been modified to displace 1,776cc and features a 12-volt electrical system, dual Kadron/Solex H40/44EIS carburetors, and an EMPI crankcase breather box. The battery has been relocated to the rear cargo area.
