This 1969 MGC GT coupe spent time in Louisiana under prior ownership and was refurbished in the 1980s before being acquired by the selling dealer in early 2024. Finished in red over black leather, the car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and electric overdrive. Equipment includes aftermarket air conditioning, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, front disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, and dual side mirrors. This MGC GT is now offered with refurbishment photos and a clean Texas title.
Previously white, the car was repainted in red during the aforementioned refurbishment that was performed in the 1980s. Exterior features include a door-mounted driver-side mirror, a fender-mounted passenger-side mirror, a domed hood, reverse lights, bright side moldings and trim, and chrome-finished bumpers with overriders. Bubbling paint is noted on the decklid, there is a dent ahead of one of the rear-bumper overriders, and some chrome and the side mirrors are pitted; these and other blemishes are pictured in the gallery below.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are mounted with Classic All Season radial tires measuring 165/80. A spare is found in the cargo compartment. The car was factory equipped with rack-and-pinion steering as well as torsion bars, anti-roll bars, and telescopic shock absorbers. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black leather. Interior appointments include aftermarket air conditioning, a heater, a padded dashboard, a wood shift knob, three-point front seatbelts, front vent windows, and pop-out rear quarter windows. The driver seat is torn.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the selling dealer. The temperature gauge reportedly pegs at the high end of its range when the car is being driven, but the engine is not overheating. The seller also states that the speedometer bounces around when the car is accelerating or decelerating.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual SU carburetors and an oil cooler. Factory-rated output was 145 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Paint has flaked off the edge of the hood.
