This 1940 Ford pickup was the subject of a multi-year custom build completed in 1993 by Corky Prothro of Corkys Auto Repair in Lancaster, California. The truck is finished in pink over pink and turquoise upholstery, and power comes from a 351ci Windsor V8 paired with a C6 three-speed automatic transmission and a 9″ rear end with a 3.50:1 final drive. Equipment includes a TCI chassis, a brass radiator, power-assisted front disc brakes, power rack-and-pinion steering, 15″ polished wheels, frenched headlights, remote-operated doors with shaved handles, oak bed floor panels, a Vintage Air HVAC system, power windows, and a CD stereo. It was purchased by the seller in 2017, and service performed in 2023 included the installation of a replacement brake master cylinder and tires as well as an oil change and a brake fluid flush. This Ford pickup street rod is now offered with recent service records and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The steel bodywork was repainted pink before teal and red pinstriping was added by Mike Schartel of Hesperia, California, in the 1990s. Equipment includes a chrome grille, bumpers, and hinge-mounted side-view mirrors as well as frenched headlights, remote-operated doors with shaved handles, a flush-mount fuel-filler door, oak bed floor panels with polished stainless steel strips, and taillights mounted beneath the tailgate. The windshield wipers do not work, and paint cracks and other imperfections in the finish can be seen in the gallery.
The 15″ five-lug polished wheels feature faux knock-off hubs with pink accents, and they are mounted with 165/80 Nexen front tires and 245/60 Milestar Streetsteel rear units, all of which were installed in 2023. The truck features a Mustang II-style independent front suspension with coilovers as well as a live rear axle with leaf springs and chrome tube shocks. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the brakes were serviced in 2023 with the installation of a replacement master cylinder as well as a fluid flush.
The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in pink leather that extends to the door panels, along with turquoise weatherstripping, armrests, and carpets. Features include power windows, a Vintage Air HVAC system, a chrome glovebox door, and a CD stereo. A stain on the passenger seat bottom can be seen in the gallery.
The pink leather-wrapped Lecarra steering wheel is mounted on a tilting column ahead of VDO gauges including a 120-mph speedometer and readouts for fuel level, oil pressure, water temperature, and a voltmeter. The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 351ci Windsor V8 features finned Ford Motorsport valve covers and pink accents. Equipment includes a custom air cleaner lid, a polished alternator, an HEI distributor, an aluminum fan shroud, a brass radiator, and an auxiliary electric pusher fan controlled by a switch under the dash. An oil change was performed in October 2023.
