This 1970 Ford XL convertible was refurbished prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2023. Work included repainting the body metallic green, replacing the power-retractable black soft top, and reupholstering the interior in white vinyl. Power is provided by a 390ci V8 fitted with an Edelbrock air cleaner, and shifting is handled by a SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes 18″ and 20″ Ridler wheels, front disc brakes, vacuum-powered headlight covers, a dual exhaust system, and a JVC stereo with Bluetooth connectivity paired with dual MTX Audio subwoofers. The selling dealer acquired the car in 2023, and service in preparation for the sale is noted to have involved installing a UREMCO carburetor and servicing the brake system. The XL was offered as a two-door SportsRoof model or—as seen here—a two-door convertible. This example was repainted metallic green during the refurbishment and its black power-operated convertible top was replaced. Five-spoke 18″ and 20″ Ridler wheels have been fitted, and stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. The selling dealer notes the brake system was serviced in preparation for the sale.
The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in white vinyl, replacement black carpets are installed, and the dashboard wears a matching cover. The aftermarket stereo includes a JVC Bluetooth head unit, Pioneer speakers ahead of the front seats, and two trunk-mounted MTX Audio subwoofers.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph horizontal speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.
The Y-code 390ci V8 has been fitted with an electronic ignition system as well as an Edelbrock air cleaner and polished valve covers. The selling dealer notes that the carburetor was replaced with a UREMCO unit in preparation for the sale.
