1948 Chevrolet Stylemaster Coupe Street Rod

This 1948 Chevrolet Stylemaster coupe was modified under prior ownership with a replacement frame, an air suspension system, and a 350ci V8 joined to a three-speed automatic transmission. The car wears a faux-patina finish, and the custom interior features red vinyl upholstery, air conditioning, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, power windows, and a Bluetooth-capable head unit. Additional equipment includes Boss 20” wheels, front disc brakes, power-assisted steering, exhaust headers, and an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2024, this Stylemaster street rod is now offered in Florida with a clean Texas title.

The bumpers were removed and front and rear roll pans were added before the car was repainted in multiple colors and distressed for an aged appearance that was then clear-coated. Exterior details include a chrome grille, a V-shaped windshield, and blue-dot taillights. Pitting is noted on the exterior brightwork, and the door handles require adjustment.

Boss 20” chrome wheels are mounted with 245/30 front and 275/30 rear Fullway HP108 tires. The later GM frame is equipped with an adjustable air suspension system, and the rear frame rails have been C-notched for rear axle clearance. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and finned rear drums. No shocks are fitted to the independent front suspension.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in red vinyl that extends to the dash trim and doors, which wear caps trimmed in black with red stitching. Black carpets line the floors, and air conditioning has been added along with a power-adjustable driver’s seat, power windows, and a Bluetooth-capable head unit. Pitting on the interior brightwork can be viewed in the gallery.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 100-mph speedometer and a brushed metal bezel housing Equus gauges for fuel level, alternator output, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 87k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The 350ci V8 is equipped with an Edelbrock carburetor and Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake manifold. Wrapped exhaust headers flow into a dual exhaust system that terminates ahead of the rear axle.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end.

The chassis number is partially illegible. The VIN listed on the title – 5FJD6480 – is consistent with a 1948 Stylemaster built at the Kansas City, Missouri assembly plant in April of that year.
